The Amsterdam University Library underwent a huge transformation. A former hospital has been converted into a modern library and study center.
I was asked to come up with a proposal for an artwork in the iconic staircase.
This resulted in The residents. Fifty-seven books of alabaster are set in the wall of the staircase, referring to the collection, knowledge, the past and progress.
Christiaan Kanis was commissioned by the university to film the proces.

The fantastic assignment from the UvA was supported by the Mondriaan Fonds.
