At the moment…
Two sculptures from the Fantastic voyage series will be on show at the PAN, booth 21 Janknegt gallery.
I made these works for my solo exhibition in Ruurlo Castle in 2023.
Fantastic voyage 1 and 4 are made from alabaster and are true to size.

The residents
The Amsterdam University Library is undergoing a huge transformation.
A former hospital is being converted into a modern library and study center.
The Iconic staircase in the building has been renovated and I was asked to come up with a proposal for an artwork. This has resulted in The residents. Books of alabaster are set in the wall of the staircase, referring to the collection, knowledge, the past and progress.
This fantastic assignment from the UvA is being supported by the Mondriaan Fonds.
Due to corona there have been setbacks in the building process.
The planned opening of the whole complex is 2025.
Museum MORE
Great news: the museum for modern realism in Gorssel has acquired ‘Cardigan’, the alabaster version my grandmother used to wear. The sculpture is there to stay.

20 Jahre Lichtpromenade Lippstadt, Jubiläumsausstellung
The Lippstadt based light art project „Lichtpromenade Lippstadt“ had its 20th anniversary this year. To celebrate this momentum there was a show with all the artists involved curated by Dirk Raulf. He is the man who set up this permanent ‘Lichtpromenade’. In 2021 I was commissioned to make ‘Fenster’ for the former synagogue.
My installation ’the Reading Room’ with a number of alabaster books and letters was on show in the 16th century Stadtmuseum with it’s impressive ceilings.

Unseen Amsterdam
Unbound
I am delighted to have participated in Unseen/JanKnegt Gallery once again, showcasing new work alongside some of my earlier pieces.
For Unbound, I created an installation consisting of five suspended, life-sized, vertical images of church windows printed on voile. These blurred representations of stained glass, featuring flowers and landscapes, are arranged to create the sensation of standing within a chapel. The title draws inspiration from Claude Debussy’s composition La cathédrale engloutie, based on an ancient Breton myth of a submerged cathedral off the coast of the legendary city of Ys.
Ys was a city built on reclaimed land, safeguarded by a dike. As the city descended into moral decay—marked by luxury, corruption, greed, and vanity—a catastrophic storm struck, engulfing Ys, drowning its inhabitants, and submerging the once-great city beneath the sea. The story of Ys remains strikingly relevant today.

Overview of the show here together with paintings by Warffemius.
‘Banquet’ is installed once again and works well with the glass facade of this Rietveld pavilion.
AkzoNobel Art Foundation has acquired my work. It is such an honour to be in their impressive collection.
Hester Alberdingk Thijm and Augusto Pereira Silva came for a studio visit and chose one of the waves and commissioned me to make an artwork with alabaster. The result is a combination of waves and shells. Photography and sculpture forming a whole.
Hester and Augusto stayed for ages in and out of the studio and meanwhile our cat pinched Augustos’ sandwich.
This studio visit was memorable.
The waves 2023
‘Water onder vuur’ showcased contemporary art and design meeting with landscapes and maritime paintings by Dutch and Flemish artists from the 16th and 17th century. An exhibition reflecting on water‘s beauty, power and mystery as well as its scarcity and abundance.
Together with Malin Persson and Urban Reef we exhibited our work in this beautiful monumental mansion on the Herengracht. Jacky Simons curated the show.

Fantastic voyage
In Ruurlo Castle I had a solo exhibiton with a selection of sculptures and photos in seven rooms and the elegant staircase of the castle. It was a mixture of old and new artworks and some had actually been made for specific spaces. The exhibition has ended, but the spirit of the show will be continued in a book, a new venture.

It appeared in his portrait series in Het Parool.
Setdesign
In 2015 I did the setdesign for The Olieworstelaar with stand-up comedian Erik van Muiswinkel. He had asked me again for ‘Mooien ligjes in de lugt’. In this show he brought us the diversity of the Dutch language with his own amusing anecdotes and texts by collegues. For me it was a perfect chance to try and capture sounds and sentences. With aluminium bent in all kinds of angles combined with clever lighting by Dirk Blom, new lines took shape.
