As a child I could gaze endlessly at my grandmother’s paintings. Every year some new ones had been added. In the end the walls were filled up to the ceiling with floral images, trees and Scottish landscapes. The deep red dahlias in a turquoise vase was my favourite painting. The house carried her strong and unforgettable signature.

Looking back, I experience it as her installation. This has influenced my work in how one can transform a space.

Impression contains of photographic images I made in and around my house. Flowers, views from the house and some of her things like her blouse. I presented the work in salon-style, the way she hung her paintings. This installation couldn’t have felt closer to home.

Impression, an installation at Gallery LangArt Amsterdam in 2019.
